Playing Galaga

Okay so I know I’m ruining a beautiful photoset with (gasp) words, but every time I see this scene gifed my heart hurts. During the Holocaust (and especially in the later days of the death camps), one of the hip things to do was to perform useless and painful experiments on the prisoners, to the extent that they would actually rent them out to companies and doctors that paid them enough. They would amputate body parts because. They would burn inmates with flesh-eating chemicals because. Doctors offices were sometimes equipped with guillotines, and when the camps were liberated there were literally baskets of heads just sitting there.

I’m not trying to dissuade anyone from reblogging/gifing this, and I’m not even saying I’m offended. Because I’m not, and their banter is adorable. It just makes me wonder. They never go into detail about what happened to Erik in Shaw’s office, and combining what I know about Shaw and what I know about the Holocaust gives me speculations that are absolutely terrifying.
